Robinson Morales in his 5.000 dollar match against Alejandro Piza

MEDELLIN - Two of Colombia's well-known players met at the end of the evening on one of the days in the Feria de las Flores event. Robinson Morales, ex-PBA player and Alejandro Piza played in a match for money over 100 caroms. Morales won 100-87 in 67 innings (1.492/1.298) and took 5.000 dollar.

Morales, who also wants to play for Spain, decided after his unexpected resignation from the pro league in Korea that he wants to return to the UMB tournaments, is not yet a participant in the Colombian tournament. Ajejandro Piza, figurehead of the Master Club in Medellin, usually challenges the best players to a long-distance match at the end of the match days. In 2019, he did so with David Zapata, among others, with Piza winning. This time, Morales was his opponent.

Morales had a wide lead in the first part, 45-36, but after a counter attack with eight, Piza came back to 46-44 and a 51-49 lead just after the break.

The second half seemed to be a remarkable recovery for Piza (60-56), the crowd cheered him, but 'Robin Hood' launched his first big attack with eight caroms (60-64). Two totally different techniques were to be seen in the match: Piza as an explosive and attacking player, Morales with a technical superiority.

In the final sprint Piza became exhausted, the unnecessary errors were punished by Morales, who did not spare him and defeated Piza 100-87.
