ISTANBUL - 29-year-old Turkish lawyer Güzin Müjde Karakasli (Müjde for her friends) has won the tournament for ladies that was organized for Turkish billiard player Selim Özden who died of Corona. In the final, she defeated a still unknown player, Hala Baskaya, who scored a run of 8, but was eventually beaten 30-28 by Karakasli. The Viyana Bistro Bilardo hall in Istanbul had to deal with a number of cancellations.

Güzin Müjde Karakasli is the number three on the current Turkish ladies ranking after the first Grand Prix, which was won by Gülsen Degener. ''I hope we can play a second Grand Prix soon in the new center of the federation, which will be opened in mid-October.''

The motivation is certainly there. Güzin Müjde, who owns a law firm in Istanbul, is in full preparation for the new season. She regrets that the Women's World Championship, which was to be played in the Netherlands, has been cancelled.

''With the support of my sponsors, Gürhan and Tugba Kabak, I was able to build my own billiard room with a beautiful match table. There I'm training to improve my level and be ready for new challenges later in the season.''

Güzin Müjde Karakasli was the number two of the last European Championship in Brandenburg following Therese Klompenhouwer.
