Netherlands-Danmark and Belgium-Italy in semi finals

ANKARA - The Turkish defender of the European title, with Tayfun Tasdemir and and Lütfi Cenet, is out of the tournament, the Netherlands plays the semi final against Danmark, Belgium meets Italy in the semis. That's the surprising outcome after the quarter finals in this European championship for teams. The team of Turky again was the candidate for winning the title, but in the confrontation with the Netherlands they lost on average. Raimond Burgman beated Tasdemir 3-2 (averages 1.634/1.317), Jean Paul de Bruijn lost his game against Lütfi Cenet 3-2 (averages 1.127 for De Bruijn, 1.312 for Cenet). The final score in average was for the Netherlands 1.363, for Turky 1.314.

Spain was thrown out of the tournament by Danmark. Zola Hansen took an early lead and had a strong showing against Daniel Sánchez (3-2, average 1.634 for Hansen, 1.550 for Sánchez). Dion Nelin took the victory for his country by beating Javier Palazón 3-2, average 1.538/1.236.

Eddy Merckx was excellent for Belgium against Adnan Yüksel. De Belgian former world champioen won 3-0 and averaged 2.250. Eddy Leppens and Murat Naci Coklu stopped their game on 1-1.

The Italian team, with Emilio Sciacca and Salvatore Papa, is the fourth semi finalist by beating Germany. Papa surprised Jens Eggers (3-0), Sciacca and Rudolph stopped on 1-1.

The Netherlands playes the semi final against Danmark, Belgium against Italy.

Groupe A: 1. Turkey A, 2. Italy, 3. Egypt.

Groupe B: 1. Spain, 2. Czech, 3. Sweden.

Groupe C: 1. Belgium, 2. Switzerland, 3. Montenegro.

Groupe D: 1. Danmark, 2. The Netherlands, 3. Turkey C.

Groupe E: 1. Turkey B, 2. Austria, 3. Portugal.

Groupe F: 1. Germany, 2. Austria B, 3. France.

The results in the groups with numbers two which played for a place in the quarter finals:

Groupe G: 1. Italy, 2. Austria A, 3. Czech.

Groupe H: 1. The Netherlands, 2. Austria B, 3. Switzerland.
