New Europe-Asian clash coming in Seoul

SEOUL - The second clash, called Continental Cup, between the eight best ranked billiard players from Europe and Asia has moved to Korea this year. The showdown in team format between the two superpowers in three cushion will be played in the Park Habio hotel in Seoul on Friday 20, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 December. The teams meet each other in a special game format to 600 caroms and are composed according to the world ranking. Dick Jaspers is the number one for Europe, Jae-Ho Cho for Asia. The first edition was in France last year. The European team won 600-483 after a three-day force majeure.

The team line-ups both have changed on two positions compared to 2018. Torbjörn Blomdahl, the world champion and Frédéric Caudron are missing from Europe and have been replaced by Semih Sayginer and Tayfun Tasdemir. Asia has replaced Minh Cam Ma and Dong-Koong Kang by Dinh Nai Ngo and Myung Woo Cho. All players come to the tabel once per day in a session to 25 caroms. The team that first reaches 600 points is the winner of the event. The winning team receives $ 15,000 per player, the losing team $ 5,000 per player. Total prize money: $ 160,000.

The schedule and rules look like this:

X The first matches start on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 14.00 Korean time (Western Europe 6:00 AM, Istanbul 9:00 AM). The last session is at 10 p.m. Korean time. At 6 pm there is a one-hour break.

X The games will be broadcast live on MBC Sports+ (Korea) and Kozoom.com.

X 200 points are played per day. If one team reaches the finish of 200, the day session is over.

X Each player starts his game and stops after 25 caroms. Then the next player continues.

x The player order is determined by the team captains.

X All games are played at one table. Billiards from the brand Holywood, Simonis 300 Bleu Delsa cloths, Aramith Procup Prestige balls.
