HAARLO - The European final in the balkline 71/2 will be a macht between Patrick Niessen and Henri Tilleman. The Spaniard Esteve Mata, reigning champion in this discipline, was dethroned by Niessen this afternoon. Tilleman defeated Xavier Gretillat.
Patrick Niessen can grow out as the main start of the championship. The Belgian is not only a finalist in 71/2, also in the other discipline, the 47/2, he plays against Esteve Mata for a place in the final. Moreover, with the team of Curbi/Etikon, Niessen also plays for the gold medal.
Henri Tilleman seeded himself for the final in the 71/2 by an easy victory over Xavier Gretillat this afternoon. The Swiss wasn't able to show his great form in this championship and finished far behind in his match with Tilleman: 250-45 in six innings with a run of 181 for Tilleman.
Patrick Niessen was the victor against Esteve Mata with 250-205 in four innings and saw his opponent make an expensive mistake at a crucial moment.
