Patrick Niessen played the flawless game for Etikon.

SOISSONS - The team is on track for the title, has reached the final and the players have four hours of rest to prepare for the last match. Patrick Niessen was the ace with a perfect match, this morning in the balk-line 71/2 (250 points, one inning).

,,We are the big favorite, I know but we can deal with that pressure'', the Belgian said while his teammates were still at the table.

The Dutch team of Etikon qualified for the final early this morning. The second finalist must come from the match between Bochum and Soissons.

Patrick Niessen expects it will normally be a final against the Germans. ,,But you never know.''

The Belgian found his feeling again after a fairly tame start in the preliminaries. ,,I could not be that happy with my game on Saturday’’, he said. ,,The tables are very fast and I could not adapt to the situation. But I did it now. I have changed my technique a little and that adjustment has worked.''

In his match against Marek Faus (Anag), Niessen got the balls rapidly in position. And with his wonderful sense of technique, timing and ball control, he dashed off 250 points in a run that was a joy to behold.

The Czech had to wait on his chair for an hour, then, after 250 points and a short break, he went to the table and missed: 250-0.

Jean Paul de Bruijn, meanwhile, was already close to the finish in the one cushion against Janis Ziogas. The Dutch player was 93-24 ahead after four innings and won 150-45 in seven innings (21.43 average).

This morning at 11.00, Bochum plays against Ronchin for the other final place.
