Eddy Leppens in the semi-finals against Jef Philipoom

LIER - Eddy Leppens and Jef Philipoom have shared the players for the semi-finals of the Superprestige in Lier today (Saturday, 18.00). Both matches in the second part of the quarters were marked by a slow start. Leppens and Philipoom showed to be coldblooded in the final part. Leppens was suffering a poor start and looked constantly at a disadvantage against Kenny Miatton, 12-3 in 12 innings and 21-9 in 16. Two short runs were the kick-off for Leppens' come-back to 21-19. Then he took the lead (35-31) and finished it of 40-38 in 35 innings.

Peter De Backer had a slightly better start than Jef Philipoom, although he was unable make a big gap on the scoreboard (11-7, 16-11, 26-21, 32-28). With his well known fighting spirit, Philipoom started his attack. With the tension at the boiling point, he was flagged as winner: 40-39 in 43.

The matches for the semi-finals, at 18.00 Saturday:

Kurt Ceulemans-Eddy Merckx
Jef Philipoom-Leppens.
Followed by the final in the 100 Mister.
