Roland Forthomme made a great performance against Eddy Merckx.

LEUVEN - His team lost the important home match against BC Deurne (3-5), but Roland Forthomme shone with another world-class performance. The man with the sudden highlights in his career beat Eddy Merckx with a spectacular score. The endrush of Forthomme was impressive, with runs of 12, 10, 4, 11, 0 and 6 in the last six innings. He left Merckx far behind with that final: 50-26 in 11 innings.

For Forthomme it was the second time in his career that he played such a superb match against a world top player. On October 31, 2004, when Forthomme was playing for Ockenburgh in Goes, he defeated Torbjorn Blomdahl 50-6 in eleven innings and a run of fourteen.

The match between Forthomme and Merckx was the highlight of the evening at Zanzibar, where Therese Klompenhouwer beat Paul Stroobants 42-37 in 33 innings and Davy Havere defeated Jimmy Mues 42-27 in 29.

That's why KBC Zanzibar looked at a 4-0 deficit at the break.

Roland Forthomme brought the score to 4-2, Jef Philipoom tied against Dave Christiani (50-50 in 41), so BC Deurne won the match 5-3.

BC Deurne took an advantage now of three points on KBC Zanzibar.

In the second match yesterday BC Biljart Expres defeated Koninklijke Eeklose 6-2. Two duels ended up in a draw. Frans van Kuik beat Steven van Acker and made a run of twelve. Freddy Staelens, playing for K. Eeklose, made a run of fifteen in his match with Guy van Litsemborg, which ended in 42-42.
