Jacob Haack Sörensen excelled with wonderful matches for his team Witten

SANKT WENDEL - The Sankt Wendel team with its leading player Dick Jaspers has scored a double in the Bundesliga three-cushion league. Two victories bring the team in the lead with 13 points out of six matches ahead of BCC Witten and BC Magdeburg with 12 points, but Magdeburg played one match less. Sankt Wendel won the match against rival Magdeburg on Saturday with 6-2 and defeated BC International on Sunday with 5-3. Jaspers was the better of Dion Nelin 50-27 in 21 and beat Horn in a thriller 50-49 in 26 innings.

The battle at the top focuses on the three top teams, who are chased by BC Weywiesen, BC International and BC Elversberg with 9 points out of 5 and 6 games. BCC Witten was also a double winner, on Saturday against Erlangen 2-6, on Sunday against Munich 8-0.

Best player in this weekend was Dane Jacob Haack Sörensen (Witten) with a magnificent win against Marcel Back 50-10 in 16 innings on Saturday. On Sunday, the Dane triumphed in Munich against Johann Schirmbrand 50-21 in 26 innings. For Witten, Dave Christiani also achieved two wins: on Saturday against Bilal Ok 50-25 in 45 innings, on Sunday the Dutchman won in 33 innings.

Sankt Wendel, that lost 8-0 to Witten in the previous round with Barbeillon and Jorissen in the line-up, now got the maximum against Magdeburg and BC International. Jaspers was the outstanding leader. Jérôme Barbeillon won against Ömer Karakurt 50-34 in 32, Markus Schönhof was the only winner for Magdeburg against Schwab in 40 innings. On Sunday, the frontrunner kept BC International in check with 5-3 after the close finish duel between Jaspers and Horn (50-49). Jérôme Barbeillon and Nikos Polychronopoulos drew in 32 innings, Schwab beat Salman in 24, Roestel won against Scherdtfeger in 37.

BC Elversberg came out of the double weekend with two losses: on Saturday against BC International 2-6, on Sunday against Magdeburg 2-6. As head man, Murat Naci Coklu lost twice, on Saturday against Horn 50-45 in 27, on Sunday against Nelin 50-38 in 25. Peter Ceulemans played for Elversberg on Saturday a strong match against Polychronopoulos which he won 50-44 in 24. On Sunday, Jef Philipoom was his substitute and lost against Ömer Karakurt 50-32 in 23. Markus Schönhof won again, 50-23 in 28 against Bosel.

For Witten, Ronny Lindemann was the star on Sunday, winning in 19 innings. BC Weywiesen beat Xanten 8-0 on Sunday. In that match, Torbjörn Blomdahl defeated Dutchman Huub Wilkowski 50-24 in 22, Frings won in 42 innings, Rudolph in 36 and Löwe in 38.
