Sixteen players for LGU Cup, winner 65.000 euros

HANAM - The vast majority of the world's three cushion top is gathering this week in Hanam, Korea, for the fifth LGU + Cup. The very lucrative tournament, with a 80,000,000 Korean won main prize, converted to 65,000 euros, will start on Thursday with the qualifications, on Sunday are the quarterfinals, the semi-finals and the final. The former winners are Dong-Koong Kang, Choong-Bok Lee, Marco Zanetti and Quyet Chien Tran.

The Vietnamese Tran won the final against Frédéric Caudron 40-39, in the year in which he also won the World Cup in Ho Chi Minh and also beat Caudron 40-39.

The current field of sixteen players consists of eight Koreans, seven Europeans and one Vietnamese (the defending champion), 35 year old Quyet Chien Tran. The Europeans, led by world champion Dick Jaspers, and Eddy Merckx, Marco Zanetti, Torbjörn Blomdahl, Tayfun Tasdemir, Dani Sánchez and Semih Sayginer, face the top of Korean three cushion, such as Myung-Woo Cho, HaengJik Kim, Sung-Won Choi and Jae-Ho Cho.

The draw for the group matches is on Wednesday, the opening ceremony on Thursday at 1 pm Korean time. The prize money is 80,000,000 for the winner, 40,000,000 for the number two, 20,000,000 for the numbers 3 and 4. The total prize money is 240,000,000. There is a 2,000,000 bonus for the best match and the best run.

The qualifiers and the final rounds are played to 40 points.
