LAUSANNE - Turkish billiard player Kenan Cantürk has become the new Swiss three-cushion champion. The championship was played in Lausanne. Four of those six finished with six match points: Kenan Cantürk, Michel Boulaz, Behzat Çetin and Pierre Alain Rech. The Turkish finalist Cantürk with an average of 0.800 finished just better than Michel Boulaz with 0.785 and could call himself the new champion of Switzerland.

Before the final session, the billiard showed up in the semi-finals in groups of six in the cities of Zurich and Lausanne at the beginning of May. Three players from each semi-final, six in all, qualified for the final stage.

With this title, Kenan Cantürk qualified for the Swiss national team and will also represent Switzerland at the World and European championships. Cantürk also played the Swiss championship last year. He came second last year and third the year before.

Kenan Cantürk in his reaction: ''This is the most important achievement I have reached in my career. No matter how far away I am from our country, I always feel I am fighting for Turkey in the tournaments I participate in. I am proud, happy and delighted to represent Switzerland in the international arena.''
