CAÏRO - The Rivoli team from Cairo has become team champion of Egypt in the first division. The champion team, which also won the Egyptian Cup, had a line-up with Sameh Sidhom, Ragay Henry, Mohsen Fouda, Hisham Saad and Hisham Halim. In the final, Rivoli won the deciding match against Shooting Club 5-1. The Shooting Club team came second in the ranking followed by Amateur Billiards Club, Alexandria Sporting Club, Heliopolis Sporting Club and Heliolido Club.
The team competitions are played annually in Egypt in three divisions: six in the top division, five teams in the second and five in the third division. The competition started in January this year, the final was this week.
Sameh Sidhom played and won for his team 9 matches out of 9 and missed only one match for the team. The multiple Egyptian champion won in the final 40-12 in 18 innings and a run of 16. Saad played a draw against Nady, Fouda won against Ayman.
The team of Shooting Club consisted of Riad Nady, Mahmoud Ayman, Mohamed Abdin, Amir Magdy and Omar Adel. Amateur Club played with Zayed Mohamed, Ali hares, Mohammed abd el Rasoul, Khaled Hegazy and Mohamed Kamal. Alexandria Sporting Club with Ihab el Messery, Ahmed Abdallah and Mohamed Sabry.
The matches were played according to COVID rules without spectators.
Sameh Sidhom played and practiced less hours during the crisis and worked two to three days as a dentist. ''I work in the clinic of another dentist, where I treat my own patients''. The Egyptian world number 9 hopes to restart the international competition at the UMB tournaments in South Korea in July. ''I hope to be invited for and that the COVID situation allows me to travel.''
