SCHILTIGHEIM - The Swedish whirlwind played with the force of a hurricane. Torbjörn Blomdahl blew his opponent Filipos Kasidokostas off the table in his first appearance this weekend. The match was marked by a phenomenal start, with runs of 10 (second inning) and 9 (seventh), which ment that Blomdahl led 31-0 in seven innings. The finish was there on a score of 50-7 in 20 innings. The audience in the Agipi arena fancied to be a witness in a miracle show.

The Greek, in 2009 on an early age world champion in Lausanne, was totally disillusioned after the beating. His opponent spoke mainly about a few mistakes in the last innings and about a historic match in which he was victimized himself by Roland Forthomme. The Swede lost many years ago 50-6 in 11 innings.

Those matche are rarely, although Eddy Merckx told in the audience this afternoon: ,,I led against Eddy Leppens 30-0 in 4 innings last Saturday in Germany, but then Eddy began to score well.''

Torbjörn Blomdahl was not threatened at alle by his opponent after his blistering start. He toyed with his opponent, trying to finish with a nice bankshot, but then destroyed him. The Swede denied that he was trying to award Kasidokostas a few more chances. ,,I saw no other possibilities'' he said later.

Filipos Kasidokostas probably suffered the hardest defeat of his career. He started his match with six misses, then made two in the seventh inning, one in the eighth and in the next eleven innings he scored only four times.

Blomdahl faceds in his next match, tomorrow for the semifinals, Sung-Won Choi, the winner of the Agipi Masters last year.
