COPENHAGEN - Torsten Danielsson, who was UMB board member from 2014 to 2016, was unanimously elected as new president of The Danish Billiard Federation (DDBU) at the newly held General Assembly at the House of Sports in Brøndby/Copenhagen. The new president commented: "I am honoured and consider it a great privilege to be elected to lead my home country ́s billiard organization". Torsten Danielsson takes over the presidency from Flemming Busk Knudsen, who has done a tremendous job for Danish billiards in the last four years.

The Danish Federation will be the organizer and host of the 3 cushion World championship coming November in Randers. The organization proceeds according to the plan and DDBU will be able to present a venue of international high standard. The players, officials and spectators will experience a World Championship held in perfect and exclusive surroundings at "Vaerket" in Randers, Denmark. The same location as the last WC in Denmark in 2002, where Marco Zanetti beat our own Dion Nelin in a thrilling final.

Torsten Danielsson: " My focus in the next 5 months will be to bring the WC to meet the highest expectations of players and the 3-cushion world. The newest developments in Korea, challenge the entire framework of how we do things traditionally. I believe strongly that the development is necessary and good. But I also believe it must happen under the umbrella of UMB. DDBU remains in close contact with the UMB leadership and watches carefully the development. We would be unhappy not to have a WC in Randers with a complete range of the worlds best 3-cushion players to compete for the title".

Torsten Danielsson was one of the front figures in the UMB board in 2014-2016 to challenge the existing organization of the UMB to move in a more modern and professional direction. "We have seen UMB moving in that direction the last three years, and I can only compliment the UMB board for what has been reached. But there is still a long way to go and no doubt we will see many more challenges in the coming years from equal potential partners like PBA. It is therefore important that UMB takes the lead in being innovative and progressive".
