Turkish and Dutch ladies with four in the knock-outs in Antalya

The five Turkish ladies and their president Ersan Ercan: four of them move up to the knock-outs

ANTALYA - The reigning European champion Therese Klompenhouwer leads the rankings after the pre-rounds at the European Championship three-cushion that is played in Antalya these days. The Dutch lady leads the total field with the maximum score, 0,961 on average and a high run of 5. Sixteen ladies qualified for the next and first knock-out round. The Turkish home players and the Dutch ladies are with four in the last sixteen. They play at 15.00 (Turkish time) at eight tables for eight places in the quarterfinals.

Therese Klompenhouwer shows up for her first match in the knock-out against Turkish Arzu Gök, Karina Jetten, the number two on the ranking, against Austrian Helga Mitterböck. More striking matches are: Steffi Daske-Gülsen Degener, Daisy Werdekker-Aysegul Fendi, Danielle le Bruyn-Güzin Müjde Karakasli.

The eight group winners achieved the maximum of four match points. In the final round, Gülsen Degener achieved the best average behind Therese Klompenhouwer (25 in 27) with a 25 score in 32. That brought Degener to second place in her group with Jaimie Buelens as the winner. The best match of 24 games in the preliminaries also came from Klompenhouwer with 25 in 25. The best run was for Karina Jetten with 6.
