Selim Özden, the beloved Turkish player who passed away from COVID-19

The 55-year-old Turkish billiard player Selim Özden, one of the well-known and beloved names in Turkish billiards and known for his gentlemanly sportsmanship, has passed away from COVID-19 virus on Wednesday evening. He had been suffering from the dreaded disease for some time, had been hospitalized and seemed to show signs of recovery. Yet, Selim eventually lost the battle.

His boss İdris Koç had informed friends and billiard players recently after good news from the hospital. But after a period of stability in his health, bad news suddenly came out. Selim Özden's heart had stopped for about 10 minutes and he was resuscitated by chest compressions. When his brain could not receive any oxygen, Özden was kept alive artificially.

The Turkish billiard community has sympathised with him in prayers and good wishes. Selim died in hospital on Wednesday evening.

Selim Özden was loved by everyone, was widely respected and known for his wonderful personality. The entire billiard community expressed its condolences. Selim was buried at the Osmangazi Cemetery in Pendik, Istanbul, after the noon prayer today.

The Kozoom team wishes family and loved ones much strength with the loss.
