Javier Palazón, one of the Spaniards in the main tournament.

The young junior world champion, Haeng Jik Kim, had to show all his qualities to defeat the Vietnamese Xuan Cuong Ma, but still he's not qualified for the final round. Sergio Jimenez reached the main event in a duel with Gerhard Kostistansky and Glenn Hoffman was ultimately eliminated by an unleashed Korean: Jae Ho Cho, who was defeated in his first match against the Portuguese Paolo Andrade.

The last part of the evening session brought a lot of tension in the billiard arena, where there will be played in knockout matches with 32 layers in the main tournament tomorrow. The sports director of the UMB, Farouk Barki, will do the draw this evening.

Roland Forthomme didn't play on his highest level in the group with the two Frenchmen, Pierre Soumagne and Jérôme Barbeillon. The Belgian won the matches on routine and the decisive match in two sets (13 and 17 innings) against Soumagne.

The most remarkable match was the one between Glenn Hoffman and Jae Ho Cho. The small, stocky Korean started with a run of eleven from the breakshot and gave his opponent no chance to come back in the match.
