Two Belgians dominate first final session

OLOMOUC - Two Belgian players, Eddy Leppens and Patrick Niessen, will perform in the semifinals of the Anag Billiard Cup in the Czech Republic, the two other semifinalists are not yet known. The other matches for the semis are: Xavier Gretillat-Dave Christiani and Raúl Cuenca-Martin Bohac.

Patrick Niessen thanks his qualification to a riant victory in one cushion in his match against Esteve Mata. In that discipline he defeated his Spanish opponent 50-15 in three innings after a starting run forty.

The balkline match ended in a draw (100-100 in 6): Esteve Mata tied in the equalizing inning with eighteen.

The Spaniard balanced the match in three cushion, where he took a 15-9 win in 15 innings. The end score in sets was therefor 3-3, but Niessen decided the game by overall average. He gathered a total of 440 points according to the calculation, Mata was more than hundred points behind with 325.

Eddy Leppens could even permit to lose his strongest game type against Arnim Kahofer. He lost the three cushion match 15-13 in 17, but had allready qualified with two wins in balkline and one cushion.

The Belgian needed a great final sprint in 71/2, because Kahofer led by 93-7. The Austrian failed, however at the decisive moment and was knocked down by a 35 run of Leppens at 96-65.

Leppens then won the cushion as well: 50-27 in ten inning
