HOOGEVEEN - Two Dutch players and two Spaniards have shared themselves among the best sixteen players for the quarter finales in the World Championship for juniors in Hoogeveen. Glenn Hofman escaped from elimination by a victory in his last match in the group against Mohamed Abdin from Egypt. Jens van Dam is the second player from the organizing country, the two Spaniards are Ruben Fernandez Bermejo and the European champion David Martinez.

The Colombian José Juan Garcia Nunez played a very unlucky qualification. He had a fabulous match against the Korean Haeng Jik Kim, but lost 2-1 with an average of 1.407. The elimination for the Colombian was there, because in his second match he lost against the outrageous playing Frenchman Eric Tromas, who signed up for an average of 1.428 in that match, the highest of all the matches in qualification.

Ruben Fernandez Bermejo, Kenny Miatton (Belgium), Haeng Jik Kim and David Martinez are the winners of the groups, Eric Tromas, Dustin Jäschke (Germany), Jens van Dam and Glenn Hofman the numbers two.

Fernandez meets Tromas this evening in the knock out phase with sixteen players in a match to best of five. Miatton plays Jäschke, Kim crosses swerds with Van Dam and Glenn Hofman plays Martinez.

The highest overall average in the qualifications was for Nunez with 1.108. Eric Tromas and William Villanueva (Venezuela) obtained for the highest run of 8.
