The new Hall of Fame, updated after two historical matches

KOZOOM - The records lists of Dutchman Bert van Manen, billiards columnist and statistician, published on Kozoom a year ago, showed us a gallery of the ten best matches ever played in three cushion. Those matches, published in the Hall of Fame, need a new update.

Two spectacular matches, at the World championship in Antwerp last year and in the Dutch league last weekend, enter the top ten in the gallery. Korean Dong Koong Kang scored his 40 points in 7 innings at the World championship and Dutchman Anno de Kleine recorded a 50 points match in 9 innings.

Belgian Eddy Merckx is still on top on the ranking with his marvellous 50 points match in six innings. The Hall of Fame shows the most spectacular matches played over 50 and 40 points and to three winning sets.

Two matches, who were amazing as well, did not make it into the top ten: Jef Philipoom's 50 in ten innings and Jean Paul de Bruijn with his match in Belgium to a distance of 42 points. He finished in 9 innings.

The top guns travel to the first World Cup in Istanbul next week, where new, great performances are expected.

Kozoom already made the current Hall of Fame at the start of 2014:

Matches over 50 caroms:

1 Eddy Meckx 50 in 6 innings (8.333 average)

The Belgian, two times world champion, realized this match in the German Bundesliga in 2011 during the encounter Duisburg-Fehrenbach, where he met Korean Inwon Kang. The scores in six innings were: 4, 9, 26, 7, 0 and 4, an incredible world record. Since that day, all top players agree that this record can maintain for a long time.

2. Anno de Kleine 50 in 9 (5.555)

The Dutchman will never forget that Sunday, February 2. The super game was played in the Dutch league, his opponent was Jean van Erp. The scores: 12-0-1-4-16-5-0-0-12, which led him to a 50-7 victory in 9. De Kleine improved his own record with five innings.

Frédéric Caudron 50 in 9 (5.555)

The current world champion was in a gorgeous form during a match in the Belgian league in 2004 in Deurne. His opponent Jérémy Bury was miles behind after 9 innings (50-4) and will never forget this gruelling on-man show. Caudron's highest run was 19.

Marco Zanetti 50 in 9 (5.555)

It's been ten years since the Italian, who had such a great season last year, played this match in the German Bundesliga (2004), this time with Frédéric Caudron himself as the opponent. The Belgian scored twelve caroms, of which six in the equalizer.

Torbjörn Blomdahl 50 in 9 (5.555)

The Swedish superstar can't be missed in the historical table. Blomdahl also managed to play a 50 caroms match in 9 innings. He did it in in the Dutch league in Hengelo 2000, against Christ van der Smissen. Blomdahl scored 31 in eight and then closed the game with 19.

Three winning sets of 15

1 Dick Jaspers 45 in 8 (5.625)
Maybe it was the most flawless match Dick Jaspers has ever played: the final match of the European championship in France Florange, when he defeated Torbjörn Blomdahl in two, one and five innings. Jaspers finished the first set with 13 points, started the second with the maximum of 15 and the third with 6 points. The consecutive run was 34 points. Blomdahl lost this match without winning a set, but with 3.000 average.

Match to 40 points

1 Frédéric Caudron 40 in 6 (6.666): he did it two times in 1997 and 2006

The insatiable Belgian, who masters every discipline, plays extremely strong to every distance in three cushion. Twice he played a game to 40 points in six innings, in 1997 and 2006, both in a Belgian Grand Prix. His opponents: Eddy Willems in 1997, Peter De Backer in 2006. The high runs were 15 and 19.

2 Dong Koong Kang 40 in 7 (5.714)

At the World championships in Antwerp, the Korean played his super match on October 17, 2014 against Lütfi Cenet. It was the second game in his group. Kang lost his first to Alexander Salazar, who later took the bronze medal. Kang was eliminated in the group, averaging 2.642 over two matches.

Eddy Merckx 40 in 7 (5.714)

The double world champion recorded this fantastic match at the World Cup in Antalya in 2013 against Murat Naci Coklu. In the fifth inning, Merckx attacked with a 17. Two innings later, he reached the finish.

Frédéric Caudron is the most starring player in the honor roll. He was three times in the top ten, followed by Eddy Merckx, who was twice in the top ten.
