Nikos Polychronopoulos had a superstart like Frédéric Caudron in the first session.

The first one who went out (Frédéric Caudron) was even faster at the finish than the other (Nikos Polychronopoulos): it was like a duel between the Tour de France sprinters Mark Cavendish and Alessandro Petacchi, this afternoon in the second session of the World Cup in Matosinhos. Two speed devils at the billiards entertained the audience with two very attractive matches.

Caudron had a bright and breezy win against Luis Aveiga, the poor Ecuadorian who only could sit on his chair to see the maestro playing.

Polychronopoulos sealed the fate of Murat Naci Coklu, who wasn't able to play his normal game due to a stupid injury. ,,I was a bit joking with a friend, we played a game, pulling each other's arms. But I made a stupid movement and I was not really able to play billiards now,'' he said.

Frédéric Caudron, Dick Jaspers and Nikos Polychronopoulos played in this round all three the same averages: 2.142.

Filipos Kasidokostas had, comparing to those to matches, a slow and difficult start. He eventually ran to the finish when he felt his faultless sense was back and he could beat the Asian champion Chung Bok Lee 3-1.

The slowist match by far was the duel between Ruben Legazpi and Manuel Rui Costa, who has a lot of more things on his mind these days, because he is involved in the organization. After a marathon five-set match Legazpi took te victory 3-2.
