Roger Everaert, recently promoted to UMB referee is keeping an eye on Walter Bax.

After 2 days the first selection has been made, 8 players are out of the tournament. In group A the Japanese Nobuyasi Sakai played a percentage off 72.82 and became groupwinner, together with the Frenchman Kevin Tran they are the first to qualify. In group B the 2010 Dutch Champion Erik Vijverberg had to fight to get started on Friday, after a hesitating beginning with a bit of tension he succeeded in winning the first 2 matches. Losing against the Belgian Erik Vervliet didn't had any influence. Also the Austrian Robert Immervoll got through and has to play against the strong Eric Daelman (BEL) on Friday morning.

In group C the 2008 World Champion Haci Arap Yaman (TUR) was undoubtedly the winner. He could even permit a loss against Bernd Singer (GER) who got in second at the loss of the Hungarian Laszlo Toth.

Group D was dominated bij de Turkish Serdar Gumus and the German Thomas Ahrens, both playing a nice percentage over 60 procent. Nevertheless it was an exciting Thursday evening: Olivier Lacroix (FRA) was competing in a direct duel with Thomas Ahrens for a place in the next round. Eventually after 5 sets Lacroix had to acknowledge the superiority in Ahrens.

Today the seeded players will start their first matches, who will be the winner ?

There will be a daily Livestream from Florange and later on this year the Semifinals and Finals will be broadcoasted on Eurosport.
