Wesley de Jaeger hopes for a spectacular comeback. ,,I think I will be stronger than ever.''

HURGHADA - The Dutchman Ad van Hammond and the Dane Thomas Moors should not make too many illusions to survive the Pre Pre Pre qualification of the World Cup in Hurghada. They are classified into the group with Frans van Kuyk, the Dutchman who will play a World Cup after an absence of many years. The only international performances of the Dutchman have been the tournament of Crystal Kelly in all those years, because he was a prominent player in this Dutch team.

Frans van Kuyk is traveling to Hurghada to combine billiards with a holiday in the Egyptian tourist resort, like many of the 128 participants will do. John Tyssens is one of those players. The Dutchman was, long time ago, in 1994 the European champion in Odense in the era of the BWA tournaments, before Andreas Efler and Dion Nelin and second in the World championships of 1995 behind Jef Philipoom. He wanted to participate in Hurghada, but probably he will not been able to play.

,,On Sunday I will play in the Dutch league, so on Monday I leave for Hurghada, but regarding the schedule, I have to play there on Sunday'', Tyssens says. ,,The Dutch rules tell me that a match with my team for the league should not coincide with a World Cup. That's why I registered for Hurghada, but I can only start at Tuesday. We will see how they can find a solution for this problem.'' Tyssens is scheduled in his group with the Belgian Rudi Hendrickx and the Egyptian Nessim Adolph.

On the opening day (Sunday) there are a lot of Dutch players (13) in the schedule. The second day is colored Egyptian (7) and it is the day that Wesley Jaeger makes his comeback. The Belgian had a complicated surgery to one of his eyes this week and had to stay for two days in the university hospital in Antwerp. He's looking forward to his comeback at the billiard.

,,When I return from the World Cup in Hurghada, I must have another operation, to the other eye,'' he explained this week. ,,It was too risky to do both eyes at the same time. But I'll be glad when my eyes are good again. I want to make a comeback stronger than ever.''

The qualitative impulse in Hurghada may be expected in the Pre qualification on Tuesday, when players like Dave Christiani, Can Capak, Ly The Vinh, Jean Reverchon, Ronny Lindemann, Peter Ceulemans, Haeng Jik Kim, Kostas Papakonstantinou, Peter de Backer and Therese Klompenhouwer make their entrance.

For the final qualifying day, the schedule promises a lot of interesting matches, such as Lütfi Cenet-Adnan Yüksel, Javier Palazón-Jean-Paul de Bruijn, Anh Vu Duong-Jef Philipoom, Dong-Koong Kang-Raimond Burgman, Jean van Erp-Murat Naci Coklu, Roland Forthomme-Tonny-Carlsen, Christian Rudolph-Nikos Polychronopoulos, Glenn Hoffman-Ruben Legazpi and Barry van Beers-Antonio Ortiz.
