VIENNA - The president of the Austrian billiards federation, Franz Stenzel, has officially opened the main event of the World Cup in Vienna this morning. He was accompanied by mr. Wolfgang Rittman, president of the European federation and Jean Claude Dupont, president of the world federation UMB, who spoke the traditional and official opening words.

The tournament, the fourth World Cup this season, starts at noon with the matches Jaspers Lee, Umeda-Christiani, Tasdemir-Papakostantinou and Bury-Robinson Morales.

Jean Claude Dupont and Wolfgang Rittman congratulated the Austrian organization with the 80th anniversary of the federation. They memorized the rich history of Vienna in billiards, with many coffee shops, linked to billiard rooms with several match tables.
Today there are still 35 match tables in Vienna around the capital.

The 71-year-old Heinrich Weingartner, an institution in the world of billiards, is the owner of a fantastic billiard museum in Vienna. It's the only museum in the world of billiards.
