Sung Yoon Jung, the day's best in the World Cup

GURI - The treasury of Korean three-cushion has been opened already on the first day at the World Cup in Guri. Two players, called Jung, closed the starting day on top of the ranking with averages of 2400 and 2000! Yes, you heard right..., these are not the final days of the Word Cup, but the first day of the preliminaries. Sung Yoon Jung won his two matches in his group in 11 and 14 innings (2.727 and 2.142), Myuoung Hae Jung, also a Korean, was slightly slower at the finish, in 13 and 14 innings. The top sixteen? Eleven Koreans, four Vietnamese and one Japanese.

The Junior World championships has just closed its doors and the fourth World Cup of this season with a thunderous tumult. The only young players from the Junior World championship who advanced for the second day was Jun Tae Kim, the losing finalist.

The best European was Antonio Montes, the former European champion, who played in one of the best groups in these first round. He was second after Hae Myoung Jung with 1.342. Seung Jun Lee was even a better second in his group with 1.866 after Sung Yoon Jung, the winner with 2.400.

The new generation of Asians gets ready for the new battle with the European guns. Torbjörn Blomdahl is leading the main tournament players, positioned as the world's number one and also the first in the 2015 World Cup ranking. Dick Jaspers defends 80 points Roland Forthomme 54 and Sung-Won Choi 38. That puts a lot of pressure on these players in the top twelve.

The top twelve players for this World Cup according to the ranking some weeks ago: Torbjörn Blomdahl, Dick Jaspers, Eddy Merckx, Sung-Won Choi, Frédéric Caudron, Daniel Sanchez, Marco Zanetti, Hyung-Bum Hwang, Roland Forthomme, Dong Koong Kang and Jean-Paul de Bruijn.

The five wildcards are Javier Teran (CPB), Adnan Yüksel (CEB), Riad Nady (ACC), and Jung-Han Heo and Young-Hoon Lee (organizer).

The country with the most players is South Korea with 45 on a total of 149 participants. The Vietnamese are with 25 and Japan with eleven players, therefore the field consists for more than a half of Asian players.

The difference in time with Europe is seven hours. Kozoom will broadcast all matches live.
