The Spanish town of Valencia where the next UMB meeting will go on

SHARM EL SHEIKH - The next World Cup in Ankara (21-27 February) and the World Championship for national teams in Viersen (10-13 March) will with some certainty be maintained on the agenda of the world federation UMB. That was decided this Friday at the annual meeting, the General Assembly, which was held in Sharm El Sheikh during the World Championships. Ten federations and two confederations were present. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Farouk Barki, president of the World Federation.

The next three cushion World championship individual will be played next year in Korea from 9-13 November. The continuation of the events is of course dependent on the development of the COVID crisis.

The board has received requests from players, after a meeting with the players' council, about changing some rules. One of the requests is to change the time clock: back from 30 seconds to 40 seconds. That might mean, the number of time-outs could go down from five to two or three. The UMB board has not made a decision on this yet.

Semih Sayginer and other top players have already spoken out in favor of a summer break, which would halt the calendar for major tournaments in the summer for about four weeks.

The General Assembly passed off very calmly. The board elections will be next year, at the meeting that will then be held in Valencia.
