LEUVEN - Two victories, by Eddy Merckx and Jef Philipoom, were not good enough for BC Deurne to grab the win against BC Lugo. Eric Hendrickx and Jean van Erp took the advantage befor the break for Lugo. BC Deurne only could save one point.
KBC Zanzibar, which won 6-2 to Biljart Express, is with five matches to go the main competitor of BC Deurne. The difference between the two teams is two points. BC Geox already has a backlog of five points on Deurne, despite the 5-3 victory last night against De Ploeg. Martin Horn was the only player who won in Zoersel for De Ploeg: he defeated Dion Nelin (50-41 in 26 innings).
Eddy Merckx retains its excellent form, as he showed in his duel with Martin Spoormans. He was with an average of 1.666 the best man of his team. Jef Philipoom won his match against Henk Habraken with a narrow escape 50-48 in 35. Erik Hendrickx had a wonderful day, he finished with an average of 1.826.
Peter Ceulemans is tubbing with a lesser form. He lost his match against Steven van Acker 50-44 in 40, which was a costly misstep for Mister 100 Lier against K. Eeklose. Raymond Ceulemans and Kurt won their matches and made the tie for Lier.
Frans van Kuik for Biljart Express was the only winner in the match against Zanzibar. The Dutchman defeated Roland Forthomme 50-43 in 33 innings. Van Kuik also made the highest run of the evening (10).
