Dynamic Billard Treviso Open down to last 32 single elimination

After a long day of tough matches and fascinating, sometimes frustrating pool action, the Dynamic Billard Treviso Open 2013 Euro-Tour is down to the last 32 players.

Among those 32 is Richard Jones (GBR). He made his long way through the loser’s side after having lost yesterday to his roommate and good friend, Mark gray (GBR). Jones defeated Gregory Bartoccioni (LUX) 8:1, then got the best of Senharip Azar (SWE) by a hair’s breadth with 8:7 and finally ousted Poland’s Mateusz Sniegocki wit 8:7. That was definitely a rough way for Jones who got drawn to play Denis Grabe (EST) in the round of the final 32 players. Unluckily, Jones lost 7:8 to Grabe and has to settle for 33rd.

Another player who has a long journey behind him is Albin Ouschan (AUT). The number 1 of the current Euro-Tour rankings lost his second match yesterday to local hero Daniele Corrieri (ITA). Then he took on Ruslan Chinakhov (RUS) with 8:3 this morning, continued with Switzerland’s Eric Juvet 8:4 and finally got the best of Jesse Waltteri Huttunen (FIN) with 8:3 to book his seat in the single elimination stage of the Dynamic Billard Treviso Open 2013. There, he met former World and multiple European Champion Oliver Ortmann (GER) who could not necessarily considered to be an easy draw for Ouschan. Ouschan however managed to just overpower Ortmann with 8:7 and sent the German home.

Huidji See (NED), reigning World 10-ball Champion, also had to take the detour over the loser’s side. After a strong fight, he lost his match with Roman Hybler (CZE) in the winner’s qualification round with 7:8. He then needed another victory. His victim was Arjan Matrizi (ALB) who got a clear 2:8 defeat from the World Champion. See played Mario He (AUT) in the single elimination round tonight. He remained the upper hand and stayed alive in the tournament with an 8:6 victory over He.

Three Italian players were still waving high their flag on their home soil in the round of the last 32: Bruno Muratore went to work against Gabor Solymosi (HUN). Fabio Petroni dealt with Tomasz Kaplan (POL) and Daniele Corrieri took on Karol Skowerski (POL). Amazingly, all three Italians lost their matches with 7:8 and condemned the event to continue without local participation. The only player with Italian nationality, who is currently living in Germany, who still defends the Italian Colors, is Antonio Benevuto who won over Radoslaw Babica (POL) with 8:7.

Overall, it was real remarkable that five out of ten players from Poland have made it to the stage of the last 32 players. That once again proves their high level of performance.
