Kozoom Foos Interview with Pascal Salzgeber

Pascal Salzgeber is from Switzerland and member of the nationalteam. Currently he is the Swiss Champion in Doubles and Vice Champion in Singles. We had 5 questions for him:

1. What does the ITSF World Series by Leonhart mean to you? Why do you participate?

The World Series by Leonhart is a fixed event in my calendar because of the high performance level. It is the perfect opportunity to play against the best players in the world on this table and the best way to prepare for the ITSF World Cup 2017 in Hamburg. Beside that for me as a native Garlando-player it is another feeling to play on Leonhart. The tables are constructed differently which is always a new challenge for me. I like challenges and everybody who knows me will know that I am not afraid of them.

2. Who are the strongest opponents for you this year?

I think the players from the host country Germany are very strong, but those from the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg and Denmark are strong as well. It is hard to say who will be the favorite in this strong field of competitors.

3. Who is your partner for the open doubles and why?

My partner is Hannes Wallimann with whom I have played successfully in several national and international tournaments in the past 3 years. Hannes and I get along well during a match and after it and our different styles of play complement each other perfectly on every table.

4. Doubles or Singles. Which event do you prefer and why?

I prefer doubles because it is a bigger challenge for me. To fight for victory, to learn from experience and to enjoy the thrilling moments together characterize the doubles. At the same time we are able to analyse our matchplay and to improve it. It is also more fun to celebrate a victory as a team.

5. What are your goals for the tournament season 2016?

So far, this season was one of the most successful nationally and internationally. I became Swiss champion in Singles and Doubles and together with hannes I made a sensationel 2nd place at the World series by Garlando. My next goals are to improve my skills and to be successful at the World cup 2017. Regarding the World Series by Leonhart Hannes and me aim to achieve the Top 10 the rest is up to our form of the day.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions. We wish you all the best.
